Blue is our culture here at VAST. Being blue means we embody our 9 core values: communication, empowered, fun, relationships, results, team, innovative, healthy and integrity. It is what we live and breathe on a daily basis, so I wanted to reflect on a few events we have had in our office so far this year that embrace our blue culture.
Every January at our annual meeting our Zen Committee announces a 12 week wellness challenge to all employees. This year we “climbed” Mount Everest. For every 120 minutes of exercise you moved your climber up the mountain. If you made it to the top at the end of 12 weeks, your name was entered into a drawing for one of three prizes: a $200 gift card, $100 gift card, and a $50 gift card. This is always a fun challenge, and a good way to start off the New Year.
April was a busy month for us, as we bowled for kids for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Our team raised just over $2,800! This is something we do every year, and I am always amazed at how much this team raises. We also had an amazing and brave group participate in the Lip Sync Battle to support Lake Superior Hospice, and we helped the Marquette Beautification Committee to clean up the bike path.
In May we merged with City Insurance, which strengthened both our team and our culture. We are all looking forward to what else this year may bring, and the many ways we can continue to embrace our blue culture.
