The definition of wellness according to Merriam-Webster is “the quality or state of being in good health, especially as an actively sought goal.” Good health is a broad term and can have many facets. Our ZEN committee holds “Lunch & Learn” sessions throughout the year on a variety of topics. Our session this month focused on the most important meal of the day – breakfast! Angie Cherette from Sage and Spry came to our office and taught us (in one hour) how to make almond milk, green smoothies, and chia overnight oats. Everything was simple and delicious! Personally, I’m pretty excited to try the recipes at home for myself.
Since December can sometimes turn into a busy and hectic month, we also held a Meditative Mat class at Bird on a Perch during a lunch hour. It was very convenient since it is right across the street from our office. It’s important to take time for yourself, recognize how you’re feeling, and to breathe. I think many of us forget this, not only in December, but at any time of the year. I’m looking forward to the ZEN events of 2017. I wish you health and happiness in the upcoming year!
